Joan Spicci

Joan Spicci authored BEYOND THE LIMIT, a fictionalized biography of  Sofya Kovalevskaya, noted mathematician and author.  Research  relating to Kovalevskaya has become Joan’s passion. She has also  published articles on teaching, computing and mathematics, co-edited two science fiction anthologies and prepared the introduction to MIZORA, a science fiction classic reprint in a series honoring early women science fiction writers.Joan has worked as a mathematics teacher, database manager, electronic game company president, writer's assistant, lecturer and author. She currently is pursuing her interests in 19th century history of mathematics, the role of women in science, and all things Russian.  The mother of three grown children and grandmother of seven, she lives in Albuquerque NM with her husband, author Fred Saberhagen and their two cats.
