Robert A. Heinlein (1907-1988), author of ground-breaking novels such as STARSHIP TROOPERS, RED PLANET, STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND and THE MOON IS A HARSH MISTRESS, and is generally considered the greatest and most influential science fiction writer of the twentieth century – some would argue that greatest writer, regardless of genre. The film “Destination Moon,” which Heinlein scripted and for which he provided technical direction, remains a classic and is considered the first modern science fiction film. The Robert A. & Virginia Heinlein Prize Trust was founded to encourage space exploration.
