Carol
Berg was born in Fort Worth, Texas, where the hot summers were
perfect for developing a lifetime’s habit of reading
everything from classics and mythology to spy thrillers and
science fiction. While majoring in mathematics
at Rice University, she took every English course that listed
novels on the syllabus, so she would have time to keep reading. After
a brief stint teaching mathematics, she helped raise three
sons, earned another degree in computer science from the University
of Colorado, and began a seventeen-year career in software
engineering. Along the way, a fellow engineer hoodwinked
her into exchanging letters “in character” and
the writing bug bit. Carol has now put the engineering
career on hold and lives in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies
writing fantasy.
